2006 Pouilly Fuisse Couturier

Marcel Couturier is not new to the area but up until two years ago had sold all his production to the local co-operative. He now has most of the vines back under his own control with the rest to follow shortly. His 2005's were quite impressive but with the 2006's he has moved onto a different level altogether and I can confidently say they are the finest wines we have tasted from this appellation. A little more closed on the nose at present but rich and persistent on the palate with marvellous intensity. The oak used is mostly 2nd & 3rd year casks so that the wood gives structure but never dominates. The finest Pouilly Fuissé we have tasted for a very long time.
