2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reine des Bois Domaine de la Mordoree
As always a contender for wine of the vintage. Comprising of 70% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 5% Cinsault, 5% Counoise, 5% Syrah and 5% Vaccarese from 60 year old vines in three parcels of land - La Crau, La Cabrières and Bois La Ville, giving minute yields of 30hl/ha. Aged in 50% oak and 50% stainless steel. Deep ruby red in colour, almost opaque with aromas of red fruits with overtones of leather, black truffles and coffee. Fat, concentrated and full flavoured with a long finish with hints of liquorice. Drinking from 8-10 years.
