This vineyard was first planted in 1982 and was always a significant part of the 'Estate' Chardonnay Blend. Overlooking the Mates vineyard it produces a wine with lovely ripe fruit and a distinctive mealy minerality, sharing a number of characteristics with Mates. With 4 to 6 years age the wine will reveal underlying power and concentration.
The Wine Advocate - "Much more introverted on the nose than the Coddington but still imbued with the Meursault like profile. The palate is very ripe, a little 'warmer' than Coddington with higher alcohol. It develops an entrancing glycerin-rich finish inter-cut with fresh lime and a touch of petrol on the aftertaste. A superb debut. 91points."
